My Name is Jiiniikwe. I am a Native American musician who has recorded music since 2007. I am enrolled Anishinabe, however, I have lived among the Oglala Lakota in South Dakota for 27 years and have relatives originally from Standing Rock. I reside back and forth from north to the south to bring the stories of Native understanding and education.
As a young Native girl in Michigan, I had many influences in music and the arts, such as the Beatles & Motown.
I compose my own music and lyrics & play all instruments, including keyboards,synthesizer's, strings & drums. My awards include a nomination for the North American Indigenous Image Awards for Rock Music, 2016 and 2019 a bronze and silver medal from the Global Music Awards. An inclusion from Native American Music awards 2016 for the free album Water Is Life II. A Native American Music nominee for 2017.
I am a international/national artist, published writer. I like to use music as an venue to express culture and issues concerning Native people.
